The Jugular – A New (Online) Frontier

In 2018, The Jugular was born – an online media platform to provide its readers with all their medically-inclined needs.

Named after our founders’ (Jumaana and Mashaal) aim to produce media that runs straight from our readers’ minds to their hearts, The Jugular circulates content which deals with tough ‘maters’ and cuts straight to the core of the issue. From journalistic investigations, to satire and film reviews, our new online medium enables our student team to keep up with the venous pressure of today’s fast-moving news cycle and be part of the culture conversation as it is happening.

If critics knew we existed they’d call us ‘the new New York Times’ and ‘superior to Buzzfeed’.

In the past, the Publications team published quarterly magazines, covering everything from inspiring electives in Tanzania to medically-themed playlists. Each issue was the amalgamation of hours of hard work and creativity from the Publications team and all others who submitted to the magazine. However, with the overwhelming amount of media now being consumed digitally, Publications decided to embrace the cybernetic ether and go online, which resulted in this very site.

We are open to submissions and we are happy to receive feedback from our readers. Our content is made for the enjoyment of medical and non-medical students alike.
