Dearest Wallace,

I miss you so much.

I miss how boisterous you were. I miss your sleek, aesthetic, architecturally superior, sparkling grey and silver layout. I miss the ping pong table, the broken ping pong balls, the worn paddles. I miss the close proximity from you to the light rail and the Gate 8 bus stop. I miss having the 8 grad caps imprinted into every fibre of my being during SGs.

And above all, I miss flexing my ATAR and UNSW Med-cult status to those plebeian med-sci and exercise physiology students.

As I develop my skills as a reflective practitioner and effective communicator, I realise the potency of your presence in my life. You awakened my sympathetic nervous system, increasing my HR, RR, BP and dilating my bronchi and pupils. You leave me with  dyspnoea, orthopnoea, syncope and retrosternal chest pain; all the symptoms of a myocardial infarct (or a crush).

But on the positive side, your absence has allowed me to experience and appreciate a love like no other: online learning. It fills me with joy to be able to combine learning with relaxation. During lectures I critique kdramas, during QMP pracs I make lunch, during SGs I watch Tiktoks.

So, I thank you for the 4 weeks we were together. Hopefully I will be seeing you soon and donning my coveted $37.50 Medsoc hoodie on campus. And though my time at XS café probably heightened my LDL-C levels, thus elevating my risk of atherosclerosis, I love you regardless.

With Love
