Let’s build a snowman.
His nose will be straight and round;
His arms thick and strong;
And his eyes made of lustrous obsidian,
Gleaming under the winter sun.
Let’s build a snowman.
His body shall be a snowball,
That will be rolled in snow for three days and three nights.
His head, a crown so tall,
In this creation’s towering height.
Let’s build a snowman,
The snowball leaves its mark,
As it engulfs all in its path.
Soon the snowball grows large
But soon, on the third hour, I submit
To winter’s looming presence.
Let’s build a snowman.
His nose, carefully dug from the frozen earth,
Is crooked like that of a witch.
His eyes, dark gems stolen from a pirate’s treasure,
Surely to bring the snowman to life,
Are dull and askew.
How can I build a snowman
When each gust of wind presses me to my knees?
I wrestle away his arms to aid my failing legs,
And trudge across the barren wasteland
Towards an enclosure I call home.
Let’s build a snowman
In this vast, featureless land,
Where our footprints vanish in winter’s hands.
