Read Time:30 Second
by Carolyn Wang | ed. Siyu Yan

Author’s note:
I was inspired by an article I read regarding the decline of words associated with nature, as society moves into an increasingly digitised world. The left-most column is a list of words that originated as descriptors of our natural world, but have become incorporated into our technological vernacular. Each side of the poem engages with either the natural or digital interpretation of each word, painting a picture of the world(s) we risk losing if we turn our backs on the natural environment we so often take for granted.
